Bright Blind
by Mongoose

Made of electroluminescent (EL) sheets, Makoto Hirahara's Bright Blind simulates a window where none exists.

In all other respects, the artificial blind functions in exactly the same way as a regular blind - ie turning the plastic stick controls the brightness, etc.

As of this writing, this piece is made by hand, so it's available - but will take some time (and money) to create.

Way cool! I can see millions being sold to inner office cubical junkies in the USA -What a brilliant product!

I don't like the way these blinds look on real windows. Why would I want to see one w/o a window? Better a cool piece of art or something else electroluminescent.

awesome. I work in an office with no windows and keep threatening to make one of my own. I'll take this.

Great idea. and any options on the light spectrum that's emitted would be a bonus--that is, if it shared the properties of natural light.

Great design for the motion picture industry as well; I frequently wish I could put a window where there wasn't one in order to motivate my off-camera lights. I would love one of these.

You need to put this product out to DWC magazine for people in the design industry. How about the International Window Coverings Expo in Atlanta this March?
